Coachman Park Redevelopment Plan
Clearwater is set to receive a major update to Coachman Park in Downtown Clearwater along the water. The plan for improvements to Coachman Park came to fruition following an overwhelming vote by the citizens of Clearwater in 2017 to allow for construction there.
The construction project is ever nearing its start date after a city meeting was held in June, 2020. In it they made a move to save 5 million dollars by removing the addition of a 5th story to the library. Also, the parks proposed location moved north towards Clearwater’s Main Library, which itself is set to receive a multi-million dollar renovation. In total the park is estimated to cost around 15 million dollars and will be centered around a 4,000 seat amphitheater.
“The Coachman Park Redevelopment Plan prioritizes the music venue in a convenient and manageable location at the north end of Clearwater’s downtown waterfront,” said Clearwater Assistant City Manager Michael Delk.
The public can be expected to see a more concrete project schedule and finalized designs. Currently, in the above rendering video, things like spatial requirements for certain elements are shown, but specific measurements aren’t determined. Also, items such as certain textures, colors and materials are place for inspiration and are likely to change. Most of the feedback on the above rendering has been received and we can expect the changes from that feedback sometime soon.
The public will have an opportunity to see and provide feedback on the 60 percent and 90 percent design completion in 2020.
