Dunedin aka Dogedin
Doge… Wait. Dunedin, is one of the most dog friendly towns in America. Dubbed Dogedin, Dunedin’s restaurants, bars, stores, even lots of local hotels are dog friendly. It’s hard to make your way down Main Street without seeing people walking their dogs. With easy access to the Pinellas Trail, Dunedin is a common stopping or starting point for trail goers.
As you make your way through Main Street you will find several murals of the town’s local pets, primarily dogs. You can sit outdoors at one of the many options in town and almost immediately you’ll have a water bowl placed by a waiter ecstatic to meet your fur-child. Many of the restaurants in town will normally have treats or even special menu items available for your dog.
Continue west on Main Street and you’ll run into the Dunedin Marina where you can watch glorious sunsets in the dog friendly park. Head south from there and you can walk your dog along Edgewater with beautiful scenery of gorgeous homes, water and beautiful sunsets.
Just a little north from Downtown Dunedin is the Dunedin Causeway and Honeymoon Island where you can actually bring your dog to the pet beach located on the southern tip of the island. Once your dog is done frolicing through the water and sand you can bring him/her to a publically available wash station to rinse off the salt-water and sand.
In short, Dunedin is a great place to bring your furry best friend. It would be hard to find a place in this small town that wouldn’t accept you pet with open arms. It’s a great way to get your doggo out of the house and experience something new. Here at The BP Team you can find one of our team members in town with their dog almost every weekend.
